Freshmen Orientation Programme -

Mission Aletheia 2019/2020

The Orientation Programme is organized for freshmen by NTU Perbayu, in collaboration with NTU’s Muslim Society. Other than providing freshmen a platform for them to transition into university life, the Programme aims to introduce freshmen to the concept of camaraderie with friends who have been on the same journey as them.

The Programme is created as an avenue for freshmen and seniors to come together and forge connections with one another as well as for seniors to share their experiences and advices to the freshmen. In addition, it informs incoming freshmen more about the various projects organized by the respective societies and they can join and be a part of different events.

The Programme has a different theme every year, depending on the planning committee.

For this year’s Orientation Programme, it is called Mission Alethia. The Programme is designed as a mission for humanity against evil aliens. Aletheia, which stands for “truth” in Ancient Greek, symbolises humanity’s search for their inner truths in the midst of frequent outside influences. In this case, “humanity's search for inner truths” refer to the social climate whereby many look towards others to find faults with/find role models by, however, at times they forget that they are themselves susceptible to temptations or that they do not see their own inner strengths and ultimately do not trust themselves to make their own choices, resulting in groupthink.

This year’s Programme aims to instill self-confidence needed to overcome challenges and lead others as well as perseverance to tide through difficulties. In essence, it is to instill compassion and self-efficacy to mould future leaders.
